FEI World Dressage Challenge

Angelika Maasik & OidipusCountries participating in the FEI World Dressage Challenge are divided geographically in groups of countries. Countries are offered four performance levels, i.e. Prix St-Georges, Advanced and Novice and Children levels. Four separate ranking lists are established. The Competition is held between individuals and teams within each Group.

Each Group is judged separately. The winner of each level in each group is the competitor having the highest total points. Within each Group, the winning team is the one having the highest total points based on the best three results. Competitive equality is created by having all athletes within a Group execute the same tests – adjudicated by the same Ground Jury. The Ground Jury consists of two FEI experienced judges.

In addition to the competition itself, the Ground Jury also offers competitors practical and theoretical instruction at a Clinic following the event.

The Challenge is usually held between March and April and mid-September and mid-November.

FEI World Jumping Challenge

The FEI World Jumping Challenge may be organised by any member National Federation of the FEI. Countries are offered two performance levels, i.e. categories A and B of different standards. Each category consists of two competitions of 2 rounds over different courses designed by a Course Designer appointed by the FEI. The Competition is held between individuals and teams within each country.

Final individual results are obtained by adding the riders’ penalty points for the four rounds and the time of the two second rounds. Competitive equality is created by having all athletes executing a course identically built in each country.

It is encouraging to observe that some National Federations have raised their sights by aiming their participation at higher level international events, as well as Continental, World Championships and Olympic Games.

The Challenge is held between the 1st January and the 31 December.
